Myat Ei Mon has nine years of experience as a filmmaker and producer with deep passion for storytelling, filmmaking, and producing. She completed a Diploma in Computer Arts. After that, she started studying Documentary Filmmaking at Human Dignity Film Institute. She made her first documentary film, “What’s on Your Mind”, which was selected as the official selection at Human Rights Human Dignity International Film Festival 2016. She made four short documentary films and her famous one, “Buffalo Boat”, which was selected as the official selection at GLOCAL Hornbill Film Festival 2018.
In 2018, she founded Omi Film Production and produced the “Void”, which was selected for the competition section and the Director won the “Encouragement award” at Wathann Film Festival 2018 and was also selected for the official screening at the Locarno Open Door Section 2022.
In 2020, she produced “Burn Boys”, which won the “New Vision Award” at Wathann Film Festival 2020 and was also selected for the official screening at Sea Short Film Festival, Minikino Film Week, Inter Film Festival, Toronto Asian Reel and Image Forum Japan in 2021.
In 2022, she developed her first narrative film, “No Love Lost” which won the production grant, and she won the “Woman in the Light ” award at Myanmar Script Fund, Memory! Cinema. At the end of 2022, the Producer of No Love Lost Film and she participated as one of the selected teams from Myanmar at Purin Short Film Camp 2022. This Short Film Camp is a training program sponsored by Netflix and led by Purin Pictures in Thailand.
In 2023, she started exploring her new career in Script Writing. As the first step as a scriptwriter, she collaborated as a scriptwriter for TV Series Production. At present, she is actively working in the media and filmmaking industry as a freelance producer and director, concurrently working on the development of her ongoing film projects.
