Su Su Hlaing
Myanmar

Journalist and creative filmmaker Su Su Hlaing has worked with Modern Weekly, Irrawaddy
Magazine and the Democratic Voice of Burma radio Station since 2008. Specializing in Human
interests, culture and social issues related to children and women. She expanded her expertise
into screenwriting and filmmaking by joining the Yangon Film School in 2012. Su Su Hlaing has
been a fellow at the Salzburg Global Seminar and has received accolades as an award winning
filmmaker from Doc Monde in France, Asia Doc in Cambodia, The Asian Pitch in Singapore, The
Queer Film Festival in Vietnam, the Gothe-Institute and Wathan Film Festival in Myanmar, the
Mobile Film Festival in France and the DMZ Documentary Film Festival in Korea. Currently, she
produces documentaries, films and scripts as a freelance and independent artist through her
own production company.
